Our Fort Myers Tarpon fishing charters focus on the resident Tarpon, they are dependable biters and the fishing is good from April thru early October. The biggest factor is water temperature and the frequency of passing cold fronts during the cool water months. As a general rule starting sometime in April the Tarpon will be moving out of their wintering areas and begin to feed heavily. This is the fastest and most thrilling Tarpon fishing of the year, and when the Tarpon turn on the bite is nothing short of remarkable.
Our Tarpon Charters are always early morning, from first light until about 11am. This is the very best time of the day to fish and that first 1/2 hour of the day is always big Tarpon time. The great part of an early morning Tarpon fishing charter is that you have the rest of the day to enjoy the Fort Myers area where there is lots to see and do.
More Info About Your Charter
On our typical Ft Myers Tarpon fishing charter we will be leaving approximately 30 to 40 minutes before sunrise. We want to have you rigged and ready to go at first light when the fish turn on. Invariably the biggest fish of the day always seem to come in that first 30 minutes of low light. You will be casting lures to rolling feeding Tarpon for the entire charter, and it’s nice to know you are right where the fish are don’t forget they are still finicky Tarpon.
There’s nothing more frustrating than having a giant Tarpon roll right where you just cast. That’s just how Tarpon are and when you accept that fact, you’ll have a much better time. Most days the fish have slowed down by about 10 AM although but on occasion they will continue to feed till 11am. The truest thing we can say about Tarpon is that on any given day you never know exactly how they’re going to behave regardless of what they did the day before, I think they evolved to frustrate fisherman.

Since everyone will be casting it has been our experience that kids under 14 don’t have the upper body strength to fight a big strong fish.
